Windrush Barn Buddies come to the farm once a week to assist with barn chores; most are adolescents with developmental disabilities or who are on the autism spectrum.
With full supervision, they lead horses in from the field and they feed horses. They help to groom horses for class, sweep the aisle and help to close up the stables for the night. In performing these duties, they learn practical skills and they have the chance to interact with many supportive people.
We continue to see the participants' confidence soar as they bond with the animals and fellow "Barn Buddies".
