Scholarship deadlines are:

The Blanton Family and friends have established the Kathy Blanton Memorial Scholarship which will make it possible for a child or adult to benefit from therapeutic riding and unmounted programs at Windrush.
Kathy was an early beneficiary of therapeutic riding, and Kathy’s siblings Cheryl and Russell Blanton want to give others facing similar obstacles the same opportunity at Windrush that Kathy was so fortunate to have.
The Kathy Blanton Memorial Scholarship is for a multi-week Spring or Fall session of therapeutic riding lessons or horse-related activities in a group setting, at Windrush Farm, in North Andover. This scholarship is for a participant aged 6 plus with physical, developmental or emotional challenges or for a person from an economically disadvantaged family. The candidate will qualify on financial need and consideration of circumstances.
Note: Minimum age 6 years. Weight limit for riders is 185 lbs. Riding lessons or horse related activities are group lessons. Physician’s statement (in most cases) and evaluation lesson required. If riding is not possible an unmounted program will be offered.
Kathy survived contracting Eastern Equine Encephalitis as a child, but struggled with its profound physical and intellectual disabling effects throughout her life. “Participating in Windrush’s therapeutic riding program for over fifteen years, Kathy achieved goals and experienced amazing growth in her overall physical and emotional capabilities, commented Cheryl Blanton. Kathy Blanton was a very special client at Windrush farm” said CEO Janet Nittmann “we will always remember her radiant smile and her enthusiasm for competing in the Special Olympics. We are so grateful to the Blanton family for setting up this scholarship in her memory.”
